For more than 18 years, Richard Bailey has
been designing interiors for homes all over
the tri-state area—and beyond. His approach
has a lot to do with why clients seek him
out for their interior design projects.
“Our goal is to deliver the best designs that
reflect the unique lifestyles of our clients,” Bailey
says. “We provide our clients with a distinctive
look that endures only because
the selection and placement of each
element is carefully integrated into a
comprehensive plan that always begins
with the client’s needs and requirements.
While we manage the many details of
planning and execution, our clients
are part of the design process from beginning
to end.”
The firm represents a broad palette of
design choices including contemporary, modern, transitional, and traditional. “Every client has
a style—we just help them find it,” says Bailey.
“Our completed installations reflect each client’s
underlying style, thoughtfully interpreted with
the firm’s expertise and sophistication.”
Bailey notes that clients are typically involved
with individual projects for six months to a year,
but new projects often extend and deepen those
partnerships. “Some have continued a decade or
more because of multiple new projects initiated by
our clients.”
The designer begins with the process with
a client consultation, “the critical first step in
which we defi ne the scope of the project, identify
specific client requirements, and establish the partnership,” he says.
Next, Bailey and his team measure the space
and create the floor plan. If requested, they provide
elevations that show what the completed space
will look like so the client can visualize everything.
“Clients are part of the process and sign off for each
phase of the design’s development,” Bailey stresses.
“We often take clients to Manhattan showrooms
where they can see fabrics, furniture, lighting, or
carpeting that we are suggesting.”
Bailey recently completed work on a
10,000-square-foot home in Franklin
Lakes, as well as a beach home along the
Jersey Shore. Among his current projects
are a master bedroom suite in Essex Fells,
an apartment along Manhattan’s Fifth
Avenue on the Upper East Side—and a
1740s house in West Orange.
“No matter what the size of the
project, our goal is to build functionality and
flexibility into every project to accommodate future
lifestyle changes,” says Bailey. “Our designs
are investments and the returns last for years
because good design never goes out of style.”
